Apple's new iPhone will have a price tag of 1 million!
Apple has launched a new iPhone, but on its own it may not help in increasing its market share in India. Retailers fear that after the initial enthusiasm, the cost tag of one lakh rupees may have adverse effects on sales. They say that the Android flagship phone of Samsung and OnePlus phones are much more reputable.
Analysts estimate that California-based Apple's annual iPhone shipments coming to India could fall for the first time. According to Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Technology Market Research, Apple can bring about 24 lakh iPhones in India in 2018. In 2017, he brought 32 million units here.
New iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be launched in India on September 28. Industry executives said that by comparing weakness in rupee and impact of 20% import duty against the dollar, their prices will be at record level in India. IPhone XR is being called 'Affordable Flagship'. Its credit will start from Rs. 7,600. It will be delayed from Diwali two weeks before October 26.
According to the executives, the distributors of the company in India have told retailers that Apple will offer 'Affordable Schemes' like Cash Back and Easy EMI on some credit cards from the launch date for the first time. Earlier, Apple offered such schemes a few weeks after its launch of the iPhone.
CEO of a leading retail chain said, "Despite being the factor of the want, pricing of more than one lakh rupees has made these iPhones unaffordable for quite a lot of consumers. This time, the starting price is about 13 percent higher for these flagships, but it is 20 percent more for the Affordable Flagship. So the matter is going to be tough.
According to Rishabh Doshi, manager of Singapore-based research center Canalis, the July-September and October-December quarters for Apple can be poor in India. They said, "Apple's new iPhone will go to the hands of the rich, whose prices are hard to worry, but the scope of annual growth in shipment volume is low."
Counterpoint Associate Director Tarun Pathak said that due to pricing, purchasing an iPhone in India can be very expensive. He said, 'The iPhone will be expensive due to 20 percent custom duty on unenbalating in India. Compared to this, Samsung's note 9's global price is similar to the iPhone XS, but since the first one is assembled in India, it could be launched here for 32,000 rupees.
